For over 30 years the Town Tinker Tube Rental has provided whitewater equipment for adrenaline seekers to come and experience the intensity of the rapids on the Esopus Creek.
The Course begins upstream from the Town Tinker headquarters, in Phoenicia, NY and contains the best and most extreme whitewater the Esopus has to offer. Depending on the water height an average tubing trip takes between 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Transportation to the entry points is provided by the Town Tinker Taxi.
The Esopus Creek is "NOT" a lazy river! It's class II whitewater which means 1 to 3 foot waves and rapids. It is not a man-made amusement park ride. There are real rocks and trees that can get in your way. Tubers must be physically capable of maneuvering around obstacles and have the ability to recover when tossed out of the tube.
The Town Tinker Staff is expertly trained to supply you with all of the equipment and gear needed. All tubers will receive safety instructions and gear needed. All tubers will receive safety instructions how to properly use the equipment and what to look out for on the creek. There are no guides or attendants on the Esopus so tubing is at your own risk.
All Tubers must be over 12 year's old and good swimmers.
Life Jackets, Helmets, and foot protection (old sneakers, Teva’s, or watershoes) are MANDATORY for all tubers.

Went on water release day, which was nuts. Great fun!!
Blaming the business for that would be asinine...they make everyone aware of the conditions and risks, and the creek is viewable from the area near the rental shop so you definitely get an idea of what you're in for before you choose to proceed.

Sure beats the hustle and bustle of a water park!
The river was quite tame though they do have a release date coming up at the end of the month.
For me the rapids and excitement were enough. I also liked just relaxing in the quiet and beauty of the Catskills during the calm areas. Sure beats the hustle and bustle of a water park!
Besides, you can't beat nature!!! Thank you Harry......

What a day, we had a blast!
keep in mind this is not a slow relaxing ride on the river there are some big drop and big rocks that you need to maneuver around them , make sure you ware a helmet and lid jackets but if you are up for the adventure this place is the best
i also want to give a shout out to the owner Harry he is always looking out for the safety of his customers and to his credit he never lost a life in over 30+ years.
